A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight today (Monday) with up to 30mm of rainfall possible.
Forecasters at IW Met Service say that once the morning rain clears the Island will see further showery and perhaps thundery spells of rain developing and moving northwards.
However, there is also a chance that the bulk of the downpours could miss the Island to the east.
Rainfall totals will be highly variable with some places seeing less than 10mm falling but other places potentially seeing up to 30mm falling over just a few hours.
Islanders are being warned about the risk of localised flash flooding in the usual prone areas, as well as mud, soil and shingle being washed across roads and walkways along with field run-off water.
Polluted stormwater could affect the Island’s beaches
