A vehicle has left the carriageway on Whitwell Road this afternoon planting head on into a hedge.
The vehicle, which was travelling in a westerly direction towards Whitwell, left the road at around 13:40 this afternoon (Saturday).
On scene, a pump from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, as well as paramedics from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, are working to ascertain what took place.

Cause of the collision
Lol
Just drive along this DANGEROUS island road and it is
Obvious
Motorists speed like Fcuk, let’s not beat about the Bush.
It needs speed cameras and speed humps to FORCE vehicles to go
slow.
I only mentioned yesterday how DANGEROUS this road is!
PLOD would make a mint if they stood along this road with a
speed gun.
IT IS THE PERFECT CASH COW. SIR SADIQ KHAN WOULD HAVE
MADE MILLIONS FROM THIS ROAD IN 1 YEAR
You have a weird obsession with Khan – the man who has penalised ordinary working people so that only those who can afford to drive in London can swan around in their 4x4s with no real reduction in pollution and basically ruined our once great city.
Why don’t you just f**k off back oop north?
Khan has made the Capital’s roads safe for motorists
and cyclists.
Hence being Knighted for his good work.
You are one seriously deluded person.
You must stop looking the mirror talking to yourself.
Medication is available from all good stockists
NUMPTYITUS is curable if caught early
Boom Boom
No, EIE, there really is no need to comment – we know what you think, It has become tiresome and unnecessary.
Maybe one day you will suffer a road accident no
fault of your own, then you might understand.
Until then you have a lot to learn, some people have to
learn the hard way.
Bless
Spot on, you speak for many of us!
I’m glad there were no serious injuries. It leaves me pondering though, what is it about Isle of Wight hedges that seems to attract so many vehicles? I expect this conundrum will take its place alongside the propensity for vehicles to turn upside down on this beautiful island of ours. I must remember to slow down when next I’m behind the wheel, just in case!
Speed is the answer, it is rife on the island, also many vehicles
cannot drive in a straight line.
If roads had speed humps placed along various
sections of roads it would put a STOP to speeding
and such accidents taking place.
ROAD SAFETY IS POOR ON THE ISLAND
ZERO SPEED CAMERA’S ARE INSTALLED ON THE ISLAND
It is 2026, the island is way behind the times.
On the mainland especially in the Big smoke there are
Camera’s on top of Camera’s, but it works
IT STOPS SPEEDING
