A former care home in Sandown, which is regularly subject to arson attacks and vandalism, was struck again in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
It is believed that someone broke into the premises – currently ongoing renovation – and smashed some of the exterior windows.
Police were called 3 times by a member of the public shortly after 01:00, but were unable to attend the property to see what was going on.
This recent incident is just the latest in a catalogue of offences targeted at the former care home.
In May 2021, a small fire broke out on the empty property, with firefighters dealing with the blaze for 2 hours. Police later confirmed they were treating the fire as arson. The building had also been home to squatters at one point in time too.
As a result of the break-in, a member of the public has said that more security cameras are to be installed at the premises which are currently being renovated.
In June 2021, planning was granted to turn the site into flats, with the works due to take around 14 months. This latest incident has only caused more headache.

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRETINS…….
And the vandals !
The police were called 3 times but we’re unable to attend. WHY!!!
Perhaps busy dealing with hate crime as you must see how delicate ,honest , decent respectful to others, polite , unassuming and sweet natured those poor victims usually are of name calling.
Because there were no hurty words being used or any trans issues identified. It’s all about priorities.
couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂
The vandals were out in Ryde last night damaging wooden furniture outside the bowling alley and vandalising the road works sites, the police did attend but the vandal scum had scuttled back to their doss houses like the cockroaches they are.
These scum if caught should be castrated to prevent them breeding more like them.
