The trial against a teenage boy who is accused of planning to carry out an Islamic State-inspired terror attack at the Isle of Wight Festival has been pushed back until January next year.
The local teenager – who is currently legally protected from being identified – was rumbled thanks to international efforts by the FBI, who tipped off Counter Terrorism officers here in the UK.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested on 11th July last year and held for several days before being charged with a number of terrorism offences.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court, then the Old Bailey, before entering not guilty pleas to 5 charges back in November.
The trial was due to begin at Winchester Crown Court in June but was adjourned at the last minute. The case has now been transferred to another court and is listed for January 2024.
Master X, as we will refer to him, faces 5 charges in total including engaging in the preparation of an act of terrorism, 3 counts of dissemination of terrorist publications and possession of a bladed article (knife).
The trial is expected to last around 3 weeks.
