Bus passengers across the Isle of Wight will pay more for a range of Southern Vectis tickets from the end of this week, with increases to Rover, Freedom and multi-day fares taking effect this Sunday (30th August).
The Island’s bus operator has confirmed a series of fare changes affecting adult, young person and child passengers from the end of the month. However, single fares will remain capped at £3 thanks to the Department for Transport’s Government scheme until further notice.
Passengers buying period passes and Rover tickets will see prices increase, with an adult 24-hour Rover bought on the Southern Vectis app increasing by 40p from £11 to £11.40, while the equivalent paper ticket will rise from £11.30 to £11.70.
For children, the app version of the 24-hour Rover will increase from £6.80 to £7, with the paper version rising from £7 to £7.20.
Passengers who regularly use the bus will also see increases to multi-day bundles, with an adult 5-day bundle rising from £36 to £37, while a 30-day bundle will increase by £5 from £149 to £154.
The child 5-day bundle will increase from £22.50 to £23, with the 30-day equivalent rising from £91 to £94.
Freedom tickets are also among those facing the price hike; an adult 7-day Freedom ticket bought through the app will increase from £32.50 to £33.50, while an adult 30-day Freedom ticket will rise by £4 from £120 to £124.
For children, the 7-day Freedom ticket on the app will increase by 50p to £18.50, while the 30-day ticket will rise by £2 from £64.50 to £66.50.
Some transfer fares will also become more expensive such as adult transfer fares. which will increase by between 10p and 20p, while young person and child transfer fares will rise by 10p.
The Nightrider fare will also increase from £7.30 to £7.50.
Southern Vectis says its Rover and Breezer tickets will not be affected by this weekend’s changes, with increases to those fares instead coming into force the coming Monday (2nd November).
The company says its best-value tickets are available through its mobile app, which can also be used to plan journeys and track buses.
