Isle of Wight man Robin Hounsham, who denies smuggling 12 migrants into the United Kingdom on a yacht, will stand trial in October.
As previously reported by Island Echo, 54-year-old Hounsham, of Ashey Road in Ryde, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to facilitate the unlawful entry and/or attempted entry into the UK of non-EU citizens between 1st January 2020 and 30th June 2020.
It’s alleged he was involved in a smuggling operation in which 12 individuals arrived on the Isle of Wight via East Cowes Marina.
The case was originally due to be heard back in November 2022 but Hounsham – who is also known as Robbie – didn’t attend the Magistrates Court hearing, with the court instead finding out that it was believed he wasn’t actually in the country at all.
Hounsham had previously been bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court for trial on 14th August, but is now due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 16th October 2023.

Do your bangup Hammy
Should be hung as a traitor to this country. We have enough spongers here now breeding ever more daily without adding to our burden.
Your an idiot
Another delay but interesting that Its been moved from The Island to the Mainland.
If he is found guilty, I do hope they confiscate goods and property. Houses in Ashey aren’t cheap…
Likely that is HOW he afforded it, immoral earnings from burdening us all to fund those who ought not be here
his isnt .worth about 750k
