UPDATE: TREES DOWN AND FERRIES DISRUPTED AS STORMY WEATHER HITS

Trees are falling across main roads and cross-Solent travel is disrupted as stormy weather hits, with winds of up to 75mph expected across the Isle of Wight tonight (Bank Holiday Monday).

Island Roads are already dealing with fallen trees on St John’s Road in Wroxall, Melville Street in Ryde, School Green Road in Freshwater and Calthorpe Road at Pondwell.

Hovertravel have suspended their Ryde-Southsea service, as have Red Funnel with their hi-speed Red Jet Service between West Cowes and Southampton. However, the car ferries are still running.

Thanks to Greenscapes Treecare for clearing Melville Street, allowing Island Roads to move straight on to the next road blockage.

Trees down, but our council decided it was right to fell all the trees in Los Altos Park, and big mead. The council are destroying healthy trees, when weak trees are left to mother nature. Something isn’t right
