Lake Parish Councillors are supporting a Bay-wide tree planting and hedge-laying initiative, funded by the Tree Council.
Earlier this week, local councillor Paul Brading and Lake Tree Warden Tony Hartley helped with planting at Lake Cliff Gardens.
Working with the Isle of Wight Council, Tony Hartley was able to secure a Sweet Gum, Elm ‘Lutece’, Callery Pear (Redspire), Scots Pine and Pin Oak; as well as trees for nearby Los Altos and the local cemetery.
Tony Hartley said:
“It’s important to invest in our natural environment, and, thanks to all volunteers, we hope these trees will add to the experience of residents and visitors this summer, and for years ahead.”
Cllr Brading concluded:
“The trees add to our investment in grounds maintenance at Lake Cliff Gardens, the new Toilet block, and we are applying for funding for a free-water point, as part of the Bay Place Plan.”
