UPDATED: Hovertravel have once again been forced to suspend their cross-Solent service this morning (Friday) due to a technical issue.
Island Flyer has been pulled from the Ryde to Southsea route and is currently sat on the pad at Ryde, where engineers are assessing the craft.
Hovertravel have advised that the 11:15 crossing from Ryde and the 11:30 from Southsea have been cancelled. It is unknown when the service will resume.
Island Echo has heard from customers that there was an apparent issue with the one of the craft’s doors earlier this morning.
The suspension of service came in at 10:30.
UPDATE @ 11:42 – Hovertravel say that the next update will be provided at 12:30.
UPDATE @ 13:10 – Hovertravel now say the next update will be at 13:30.
UPDATE @ 13:54 – The next update will be at 14:30.
UPDATE @ 14:35 – The next update will be at 15:30.
UPDATE @ 16:10 – The next update will be at 16:30.
UPDATE @ 16:57 – The next update will be at 17:30.
UPDATE @ 17:50 – After more than 6 hours, Hovertravel’s service remains suspended.
UPDATE @ 18:30 – The next update is due at 19:30.
The company have not provided any explanation or indication as to when the services will resume.
UPDATE @ 20:40 – Services have finally resumed after a 9-hour suspension.
It is assumed things will be running as normal tomorrow (Saturday).
