The IW Badminton Association held a Men’s Doubles handicapped and Ladies’ Doubles handicapped tournament at the Fairway Sports Centre in Sandown. The men’s event attracted 11 pairs which were split into 2 groups and the winners of each group progressed to the semi-finals. The finalists were the very experienced Barry Bushell and Harvey Goddard up against 2 up-and-coming youngsters Sam and George Gray. The eventual winners were the old heads Barry and Harvey by the score of 21-19 and 21-17. The Ladies’ doubles attracted a small entry of 5 pairs who competed in a round-robin format and the top two pairs played a final with the handicap adjusted to reflect the group match between them. This was a very close affair with the winners Ady Skinner and Courtney Anderson winning in 3 sets against the mother-and-daughter pairing of Helen & Freya McCarthy. An IW Badminton Association spokesperson said:
