Bringing a new flavour to Sandown, a convenience store, specialising in Asian food, opened its doors earlier today (Friday) following months of refurbishment.
Hoping to bring a taste of Asia to Sandown, Pirakash Sivarasa has experience in the industry and has lived in the Bay for the last few years.
Pirakash and the team have been busy transforming the premises over the last few months into a new Nisa Local. They begun work back in April.
Stocking various specialist Asian foods, fruits and vegetables as well as all your fridge, freezer cupboard staples, the shop is open between 07:00 – 00:00 (Mon-Sat) and 07:00 – 23:00 (Sunday).
One feature that is sure to be a hit is the help-yourself ice cream maker, giving Islanders and tourists, young and old, the opportunity to create their own frozen delights.
Speaking to Island Echo, Pirakash has said:
“There isn’t anywhere else in Sandown that stocks specific Asian foods so we wanted to give people the choice. If there is the demand for it, we would like to offer other, more unique products.

Located on High Street, the shop occupies the former Ladbrooke’s betting shop.
