A 45-year-old man has been arrested, questioned and released after Police located a sword, a knuckleduster and a quantity of drugs at an address in Ryde earlier this week.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, working alongside the newly-formed High Harm Team, executed a search warrant at an address on Ashey Road on Wednesday.
A number of items including a sword and a knuckleduster – that are now considered illegal under the possession of an offensive weapon in a private place legislation – were located, alongside self-contained gas cartridge air weapons that are being investigated as to their legality.
Suspected Class A and B drugs were also seized.
A 45-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He has been released from custody without charge but remains under investigation while enquiries continue.
So….that was a waste of time then.
Why would the police release somebody without charge when they were found in possession of a knuckle duster, sword, and drugs with intent to supply? I know they can still charge him, but why release him at all if, as I assume, those items are illegal? Isn’t it better for all of us if people like this are taken off the streets immediately and for as long as possible?
When that guy nabbed that girl from the path at fort Victoria the CPS decided to release him after he was taken in. Yet everyone forgets that and acts shocked and outraged when people do get released. Why? No one holds the police or the CPS to account, so it will continue, and we will all be having these pointless comments in the comments section until Islanders take action and hold their authorities to account. We will probably of colonised mars before people get their acts together though.
How will he carve his Sunday roast now, perhaps he can place it under his Lawn mower..

It seems you can be a low life scum bag, own lethal weapons and be in possession of class A&B drugs and nothing happens. Where is the punishment? What is the deterrent?

clearly had this to create a climate of fear for his customers, which would enhance his credibility in the drugs world and ensure that he got paid for the gear he was selling.
these weapons are meant as a deterrent against non payers as fear of him using them on them, will spur them into getting the money they owe. this guy is far more serious about his drug business and is probably right peed off at home now. probably been out and got alcohol to get drunk, as the heat will be too much to turn up at another dealers home
