A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of 1-year-old Jayla-Jean Mclaren back in August, have been further arrested today (Tuesday) on suspicion of committing further offences.
They were subsequently released on conditional bail until 13th February whilst further enquiries continued.
Both people remain under investigation for murder, and have today also both been further arrested on suspicion of 2 more offences:
- Causing or allowing the death of a child
- Causing assault/ill treatment/neglect/abandonment of child/young person to cause unnecessary suffering/injury
They remain in police custody at this time.
DCI Gemma Hunter said:
“We understand that cases such as this are incredibly concerning and upsetting.
“However, we kindly ask that you do not speculate on this case, as it could potentially impact any future court proceedings.
“We will provide further updates on this investigation when appropriate.”

It might be helpful if comments were turned off.
i guess that the irony is lost on you, that you comment on the very thing you expect comments to be turned off
humans are permitted to exercise free speech and as such can speculate, comment and theorise on whatever they like. This is not a police state
This poor child, what’s worse were social services took her away from her parents as they couldnt look look after her and left her with family members who’ve turned out to be worse… surely people get vetted before letting them have a child
god knows I got vetted enough to have my dog
I want them to go to jail for decades but i fear they will only get a few years…if that. The lawyers will get them the smallest sentence.
Why they already not in jail? Isn’t the lady part of the glover family?
That poor, poor child. It breaks my heart. How can people so cruel.
