A male driver of a blue Audi has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crashing at Whiteley Bank this morning (Saturday)
An Island Echo reader has described hearing the Audi approach the roundabout at considerable speed from the Canteen Road approach before the crash occurred.
The blue estate has come to rest on all 4 wheels on the opposite side of the roundabout on St John’s Road, Wroxall.
The driver has been detained and taken into custody.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“C Shift are currently dealing with an RTC where a driver has crashed whilst allegedly over the drink drive limit.
“The driver is currently under arrest for providing a breath test over the drink drive limit and will be staying at Casa Amor until sober enough to explain his actions.”
