Police are investigating after money was stolen during a ram raid at a petrol station in Sandown, which was carried out in a stolen tipper truck.
At just before 07:00 this morning (Thursday), a Nissan Cabster was reversed into the jet washer machine at the Esso Broadway Garage on Avenue Road.
Money contained within was stolen, before the thief – or thieves – made their getaway.
Island Echo understands the truck was stolen at some point between 20:30 last night (Wednesday) and 06:00 this morning from Little London in Newport.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is investigating the incident, with enquiries ongoing at this time.
A vehicle key belonging to a Nissan was found on the ground at nearby College Close this morning, suggesting those involved may have fled the scene in that direction.
Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 44250177038.

Whatever next, they will be raiding fruit machines
it is getting shocking.
It’s a joke on a small isle the intel must be out there..the people/gangs they surly must know..
The cash and carry next to the incident is a bit ironic.
And all the while the out of touch DWP is funding this shit, while robbing pensioners and cutting the help payments of the sick, proving the scum are thought more of. They need to get some priorities and principles sorted out, starting with stopping payments to bloody criminals and those bragging about how they can’t come off benefits because it would spoil their lavish life stile. This is where all the money is going, not pensioners who have paid in for for years of those suffering from horrible illnesses, but of course poor buggers are easy bait aren’t they? and no one got the balls to question the low life
CockRobbin, this is, in my opinion, the best and most intelligent letter that I have read for many a while. Top marks to you and PLEASE, keep it up
