TJ’s Gym in Lake held their charity cycling event ‘Spin the Decks’ with live DJ Tony Martin on Saturday (12th October), raising much needed funds for 2 worthy charities.
35 people took part in the gruelling 4-hour event, raising a total of £1,100 which will be shared between The Wight Brainy Bunch – a small Isle of Wight charity who support families living with brain tumours – and the Cambodia Project to build a Water Tower at a remote school in the country.
The Wight Brainy Bunch was set up by Ryde Firefighter Mark Grimes following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015. The charity now provides emotional support and financial assistance to other Isle of Wight families facing this devastating diagnosis.
The Cambodia Project has been organised by TJ’s owner Steven Marsh, who will travel there in November to build a Water Tower at a remote school in Siem Reap Province. 8 people are staying in tents in the village and will erect the Water Tower to provide clean water for the village primary school. 6 others will join the party a week later for a cycling experience in Cambodia.
