Southern Vectis has confirmed that it will run buses across the Isle of Wight on Christmas Day – 1 of the only operators in the country to do so.
With the festive period fast approaching, the Island’s bus operator has revealed its timetable for not only the big day, but the days leading up to Christmas and the Twixmas period.
In short, buses will run as normal on Friday 23rd and Christmas Eve (save for no night buses on Saturday), before switching to a special Christmas Day timetable on 25th.
Sunday timetables will run on Boxing Day and Tuesday 27th (Bank Holiday in lieu of Christmas Day), with a normal timetable returning on Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th.
On New Year’s Eve, a normal Saturday timetable will be in operation including night buses. The following day, New Year’s Day, a Sunday timetable will be in operation as it will on Mondya 2nd January.
All Southern Vectis buses return to normal for the year ahead on Tuesday 3rd January.

Well done, Southern Vectis
Running buses on Christmas Day will be a loss, and so much for being green, Christmas Day and still pumping fumes into the air. No one will use a bus on that day. Stupid idea.
As they have been running buses on xmas day for a few years now they obviously do make money as they would of been axed by now.
“No one will use a bus on that day. Stupid idea.”
Shows what kind of fantasy world you live in. A vast number of people still have to go to work. Christmas is a right PITA for people that just want to live their life they way they want as well as the ones that have no choice but to work. Tyranny of the majority. 59% are christian therefore you all must observe our religion.
Nice gesture, but does anyone need a bus on Christmas Day? Perhaps the divers should be asked if they mind working on Christmas Day?
How about Hospital staff? Care workers?, Prison staff? Hotel staff? Bus drivers? Police and Fire rescue? or even the general public who have celebrated Christmas and can’t drive because they might have had “One too many” to drink?
Agreed Colin, should be more busses to help stop drink driving.
