Cowes RNLI lifeboat was back out on the water earlier this evening (Sunday), for the second time this weekend, taking part in a search in the western Solent.
At around 17:40, the inshore lifeboat responded to a report that a man in a rubber dinghy appeared to be having difficulty rowing against wind and tide in mid-Solent, off Gurnard.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to the incident.
Despite a thorough search up to Newtown, nothing was found.
The lifeboat was stood down less than an hour after launching.
Headline is a bit misleading if read literally ! .
