SOLENT COASTGUARD HELICOPTER CONTINUES SEARCH FOR MISSING PLANE

Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 from Lee-on-Solent is this afternoon (Wednesday) involved in the ongoing search for a missing plane in the English Channel.

The helicopter has been seen flying backwards and forwards over the Isle of Wight as it travels between its mainland base and the area of Alderney and Guernsey, where officials are hunting for a plane carrying Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala.

The Cardiff City player, who was signed for a massive £15million fee, is known to have been on board the PA-46 Malibu plane when it went missing over the Channel Islands on Monday night.

What was a rescue operation has now moved to a recovery operation as hopes of finding the pilot and Emiliano alive have all but faded.

It’s thought the search could be called off when darkness falls tonight.
