A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued for the Isle of Wight, with local forecasters IW Met Service saying a few centimetres is possible in some parts of the Island…
It is currently anticipated that an area of heavy rain will push across the Island overnight, turning to sleet and perhaps even snow in a few places.
Forecasters say that the current situation is exceptionally borderline though, meaning that the transition of rain to snow will be affected by how heavy the precipitation (rain, sleet, snow) is falling. Heavier spells will lead to an increased risk of snow falling, whereas lighter spells will likely fall as rain or sleet.
Another factor is temperature, with windward coasts likely to see more in the way of rain or perhaps sleet, but further inland and away from windward coasts the likelihood of falling snow increases.
Jamie Russell, Chief Forecaster at IW Met Service, says:
“The yellow warning area is where we are most likely to see snow falling, perhaps accumulating to a few centimeters worth, although this will be thawing rather quickly, so that any accumulated snow should be mostly melted by the afternoon”.
The warning is in force from 02:00 until 10:00 tomorrow (Wednesday).

Actually the present weather pattern is so confused they really have no idea what will ensue.
How bizarre.
When BBC forecasters ever mention snow, they always state snow will fall & settle on high ground & could even settle in Low lying areas. Yet this map show all Low lying areas will have Snow & the higher areas will not!!
I will wait till I open the curtains in the morning, best forecast ever !!!!!

Are there such things as road surface standards ie minimum discrepancy, as I think the roads are dangerous can only imagine if a cyclist or motor cycle rider hit some of these areas they be off and injured and probably causing further injury.

It’s not the yellow snow I’m worried about, it’s those bloody big boot tread prints .. down the west coastline ,where the heck is it?
You evidently didn’t realise that a miniaturising ray was activated when you crossed the Solent to access the island. The actual island is barely 4 feet wide. The reason we are all so thick is because of our tiny brains.
I do hope we have a little flurry it looks so nice when it’s falling..boringly said but just want to see if anyone can say horrible things about my comments!!
