Retained firefighters in Cowes have responded to reports of a fire in the open in Arctic Road this evening (Friday).
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 1 appliance to the park on the residential street at 21:21 after smoke was seen by members of the public passing by.
Having quickly responded, the fire crew discovered that the smoke was in fact being issued by the cigarettes of a group of people who were smoking whilst socialising in the area.
The incident was declared a false alarm with good intent and the crew stood down shortly after.
I’m sorry, but that actually made Me laugh. Strange world nowadays.
