Smoke seen issuing from a commercial unit on Newport’s industrial estate has led to the turnout of several fire appliances this morning (Monday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) has mobilised at least 3 appliances from Newport and Ryde to Daish Way, where smoke can be seen issuing from ISM Solutions.
Appliances arrived on scene – just off the roundabout by Barry Way and Dodnor Park – at just before 10:10, having initially gone to the wrong location elsewhere on the estate.
UPDATE @ 10:45 – Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters have entered the smoke-logged building, and have used a hose reel jet to extinguish the remainder of the small fire.
The source of the fire – a small piece of machinery – had already been removed prior to the arrival of HIWFRS.
Ventilation fans are in operation to clear smoke, with a number of fire engines already returning to station.
Gone to the wrong location. Lol
time is vital at such times.
Maybe a local knowledge course is needed for such
employees, so in future they go to the correct location
in the first instance.
whats with the issue wording .very strange.
