Firefighters were called to Atherley Road in Shanklin earlier this afternoon (Thursday) when smoke started issuing from a bin lorry.
2 appliances from Ryde and Shanklin were mobilised to the Council car park at just before 13:00.
It had been reported that smoke was coming from the rear of the refuse vehicle.
Crews arrived on scene to find that the fire was out, but a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera were used to damp down the contents and check for any hotspots.
