The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have tackled a small fire at a factory in Newport overnight.

1 appliance from Newport was mobilised to Vestas at Monks Brook at around 03:20 this morning (Tuesday).

Firefighters discovered upon arrival that a small fire had broke out in a data storage room, caused by an uninterrupted power supply unit.

Appliances from Cowes and East Cowes we’re also mobilised to the scene shortly before 04:00, but stood down en-route.

A dry powder extinguisher was used to bring there situation under control.

Meanwhile in Ryde… 1 appliance responded to an alarm activation at Wetherspoons in Union Street during the early hours. A retained crew were mobilised at around 02:00.
