Cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins and world-famous chef Raymond Blanc are just 2 names involved in a new Isle of Wight-based event, it has been revealed.
‘LeBlanq01’, to be held between 25th-27th September 2020, will offer visitors a weekend of eating, drinking and riding like no other with the 2 legends leading the way to offer an expertly curated 3-day adventure.
Stunning rides around the Island’s countryside have been put together by Tour de France winning sporting director, Sean Yates, with culinary guidance from Ashley Palmer-Watts.
The event will begin on Friday night with a 5-course meal promoting local produce, followed by a nutritious breakfast the next morning. Saturday will see a ‘joyride’ across the Isle of Wight led by Sir Bradley with a choice of 4 distances ranging from 75km to 160km, which will be followed by an afternoon of massages, yoga and other spa treatments.
On Saturday night, a 7-course meal will be curated by Raymond Blanc and Ashley Palmer-Watts – a first of its kind collaboration dubbed ‘Tour De Feast’. The evening will be rounded off by a ‘Tales of a Yellow Jersey’ talk by both Sir Bradley and Sean Yates, alongside whiskey tasting.
Sunday morning starts with another breakfast ahead of a special 19.88km time trial event on Military Road. It’s thought the road will be closed for the private time trial event inspired by Sean’s famous 1988 Tour de France TT win. The day finishes with another fine feast, this time created by Francesco Mazzei.
The event is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young and is presented in partnership with Pinarello, Visit Isle of Wight and Workshop Coffee.
Dining and riding with such names come at a price though with packages expected to begin at £2,000. They will go on sale on 23rd July with a limit of 100 riders.
The news comes just days after it was announced that the Tour of Britain will be held on the Island in September 2022.
