The Isle of Wight recently welcomed legends of cycling and the kitchen as the Island hosted the first LeBlanq cycling break of 2022.
Welcoming over 60 guests to The Royal Hotel for a 3-day joyriding weekend, star names including Sir Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy and Johan Museeuw were spotted mingling with locals across the Island, including at The Garlic Farm, The George and during Champagne stops on the Island’s beaches.
Marking a return to the Isle of Wight following his first-ever visit in 2021, Sir Bradley Wiggins was this year joined by his friend and fellow gold medal Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy, himself on his first-ever visit to the Isle of Wight.
Also joining guests was 3 times winner of the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix, Johan Museeuw, as well as a fleet of team riders including GB triathlete Annie Emmerson, and famed GB cyclists Chris Lillywhite and Rory Townsend.
With star quality as strong in the kitchen, as on the roads, Angela Hartnett of the Michelin-starred Murano, collaborated with The Royal’s kitchen team to create a 5-course feast for LeBlanq guests on Saturday night.
Profiling the best from the Isle of Wight throughout the weekend, guests travelled with Red Funnel ferries, enjoying the hospitality of their signature lounge, before a welcome G&T courtesy of Mermaid Gin.
Luxury partners also included Laurent-Perrier, Michelin, Aston Martin and Specialized Bikes, and with guests wearing bespoke kit from Rapha.
6-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy commented:
“Another unforgettable weekend with my friends at LeBlanq. Loved my time on the Isle. Great people, amazing food and beautiful roads. In my opinion LeBlanq create the best joyriding experiences out there”.

So now we have to admire so called “pro cyclists” to the island for an overpriced slap up meal. Why? Tsk Tsk Echo, come on really. A bit of a slap in the face for people seriously worried about where there next meal is coming from. Still it highlights the difference between them and us.
