The Rotary Club of Shanklin has successfully concluded its annual January Sale, raising £29,400 across 3 locations – an 8% increase on last year’s total, despite having to relocate due to the closure of the YMCA.
This year’s event was hosted at Sandown Airport in collaboration with the Wight Aviation Museum and Ability Dogs for Young People, after the YMCA venue was no longer available.
Organisers say further funds may still be added through auction and eBay sales.
Thanks were extended to all who donated, sorted and sold goods, as well as to the Shanklin Rowing and Rugby Clubs for their support in ensuring the sale went ahead smoothly across multiple sites.
A spokesperson for Shanklin Rotary Club has confirmed that the majority of funds raised will be used to support local causes on the Isle of Wight, with a small portion allocated to international aid via Rotary International.
The January Sale has long been a fixture in the Isle of Wight fundraising calendar, run entirely by volunteers and warmly supported by the local community.
No mention of all the work done by Shanklin Men in Sheds !!! Setting up, PAT Testing, car park management, manning sales counters and clearing up after event.
