61-year-old Anthony Kimber of Ryde Road, Seaview has appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court charged with manslaughter and causing/allowing the death of a vulnerable adult.
Mr Kimber is accused of unlawfully killing his mother by gross negligence by breaching his duty of care to Hazel Kimber. It’s that negligence that the prosecution claim was a substantial cause to Hazel’s death at home in Seaview on 31st August 2015.
Magistrates this morning (Monday) heard how Anthony Kimber failed to ensure that his mother received medical treatment or care in circumstances where there was a risk of death which would have been obvious to a reasonable and prudent person.
The death of Hazel Kimber, who was classed as a vulnerable adult, has prompted a second charge against Mr Kimber in that he caused Hazel’s death or were, or ought to have been, aware that there was a significant risk of serious physical harm being caused by his unlawful act.
The case has been adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th March.
