A car has come off the carriageway on The Downs following a torrential downpour of rain and hail this afternoon (Friday).
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene on The Downs Road just past Newport Shute shortly before 12:00.
At the scene a red Seat Ibiza has lost control and slid across a verge into a hedge.
No injuries were reported by the occupants of the Spanish motor – which is slightly sticking out onto the carriageway.
Motorists passing the vehicle are advised to take care until recovery has been arranged.

Speed again and not driving to road conditions – how come was the only one? so can’t blame hail.
Doesn’t seem to have been driving to excessive speed as the car stopped just off the road!
