Police have drafted in the assistance of WightSAR and HM Coastguard in a bid to locate missing 54-year-old Julie Gisborn, who has gone missing from Ventnor.
Earlier today (Wednesday) an appeal for information was launched by Hampshire Constabulary as concerns grow for the welfare of Julie, who hasn’t been heard from since Sunday.
Police say that Julie’s disappearance is very out of character. She was last seen in Ventnor on Thursday.
WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue team – have now been deployed to St Boniface Downs to search the vast open area, with just a couple of hours to go until the sun sets. They are being hampered by thick fog.
Meanwhile, downtown, Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams are carrying out a search of the coastline between Ventnor and Bonchurch – a route that Julia is known to have frequented.
Julie is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall with brown hair usually in a ponytail. It’s unknown what she is wearing but Island Echo is told that she usually wears a white baseball cap.
Anyone who has seen Julie is asked to get in contact with the Police immediately by calling 999.
Anyone that has information that they think might assist Hampshire Constabulary with their enquiries can call 101, quoting 44220289486.
UPDATE @ 20:50 – Island Echo understands that Julie has been located safe but in a confused state, although official confirmation is sought.
