Bembridge RNLI, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and HMS Middleton were all involved in a search off Ventnor during the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
At around 00:50, Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was called into action by Solent Coastguard following reports of a red flare being spotted off the South Wight coast.
The Royal Navy’s minesweeper HMS Middleton was also requested to undertake a search of the area, whilst Coastguard Officers conducted a shoreline search back on dry land.
By 03:00 nothing had been found and the search was called off.
