The search for missing 74-year-old Tony Gwynn has been ramped up this afternoon (Thursday) with the National Police Air Service helicopter called in.
Police are continuing their search for the pensioner who was last seen in Yarmouth on Wednesday morning, at around 06:00.
A new photo, taken from CCTV 2 days before he was last seen, has been released.
WightSAR and HM Coastguard volunteers have spent the day on the ground in a bid to find Tony – real name Kenneth. WightSAR also deployed for a number of hours last night.
Efforts have now been increased with the Police helicopter drafted in. It is currently circling the Yarmouth and West Wight area.
The search is currently focusing on the River Yar and marsh area with Yarmouth RNLI’s Y-boat tasked to assist.
Tony is described as white, slim build, slightly grey curly hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white check shirt and a blue jacket.
