The newly incorporated Isle of Wight Sea Pool Company has launched its new website and funding campaign this week, as well as artist impressions of how the tidal pool at Yaverland could look.
The website www.isleofwightseapool.org.uk outlines, in detail, everything important and interesting about plans to build a sea pool on the Island – and the first brand new tidal sea pool to be built in the UK in a century.
We want every islander and visitor to the island to visit the website and find out for themselves what a great resource our island can have if we all pull together to make it happen.
A huge amount of work has taken place behind the scenes so far, all by volunteers passionate about making the project a reality. However, £50,000 is now needed by early 2025 to fund a feasibility study – the next step towards obtaining planning permission to build the pool.
Emma Muir, spokesperson for Isle of Wight Sea Pool Company, says:
“Every donation made, big or small, will go towards the feasibility study needed by the authorities to show our pool will withstand the tests of time, integrate sustainably within the sea defences and support the marine environment.
“We need to raise £50,000 by early 2025 to ensure crucial professional reports on environmental impacts, design and engineering options are produced for the study, ahead of the next vital stage in the approval & planning process.
