Thousands of scooterists descended on Ryde Esplanade once again this August Bank Holiday, filling the streets with the roar of engines, colourful paintwork and a vibrant atmosphere.
Crowds lined the seafront to watch the traditional ride-out on Sunday, which saw hundreds of scooters cruise out from Ryde and travel through East Wight’s scenic villages, including Nettlestone and Bembridge.
The event, a staple of the Bank Holiday weekend, culminated at Sandown Airport, where live music and refreshments added to the celebratory mood.

It was great to see, businesses were booming
no other island event brings so much money to
local island businesses.
Can’t wait until next year, didn’t want it to end,
the weather was an added bonus this year.
were none of them speeding then,…??
(or riding other than in accordance with EiE’s draconian expectations)
I am surprised,.. or is this just another case of double standards from EiE??
I didn’t see any of them speeding.
I did see numpty teenage locals speeding on their bikes
with their L plates on.
The scooterists were well behaved this year, must
have been the weather.
pointless polluting of the air with exhaust fumes from these outdated scooters. They should all be electric by now and the petrol ones consigned to museums and scrap heaps.
Nice to be so happy! How do you know they are all outdated scooters? Electric ones would probably catch fire!
anything on two wheels that belches exhaust fumes in not neccessary – it won’t be long before petrol and diesel bikes are banned across the west
Riding on the pavement, undertaking, weaving all over the place and parking where they want. Well done to the manager of ALDI Lake for telling 2 of these lunks they can’t park right by the entrance doors to the store.
Usually that’s the cars in Sandown driving on Pavements
to park, parking on Pavements in Sandown is rife.
Shame the Council don’t have a manager like Aldi in
Lake.
How much does a scooter cost on the ferry then ? Multiply that by couple thousand, ferry company did ok… rip off merchants..
Many sensible scooterists had them inside vans
I imagine they just paid for the van
Lol
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the scooters and their riders having a good time. It brings visitors and income to the Island which can only be good. This helps keep alive the businesses that those of us who live here can then benefit from all the year round.
