Over 100 objections have been filed against plans for new double yellow lines in Gunville.
A proposed Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for parts of Forest Hills, Arthur Moody Drive, Broadwood Lane and Park Close is due to be ruled on by the economy, regeneration, transport and infrastructure committee (ERTIC).
In March, the panel decided to defer a decision on the ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ parking restrictions after advice from the local authority’s monitoring officer, Christopher Potter.
He said councillors did not have all the relevant information in front of them.
The proposal set for a vote next Thursday (3rd September) aims to ensure safety for all road users, while securing the movement of the increased traffic to and from a new 36-home development once it is built.
Plans are based on an October 2022 conditional permission for the estate on land west of Forest Hills and Arthur Moody Drive which requires possible highway safety implications to be mitigated through a TRO.
The report says:
“The recommendation is to approve the proposed TRO on grounds of safety, as a safety risk on the highway has been identified – if/once the development is built.
“According to the planning permission this issue needs to be addressed prior to the building works commencing.”
During a consultation period on the TRO, 114 valid representations were received by the council.
One of these supported the Forest Hills and Broadwood Lane proposals and 2 backed the rest of the plans but all others objected to the TRO.
Objections’ grounds included loss of on-street parking space, a potential speed increase due to a lack of obstacles and there being no historic or present safety issues.
ERTIC will meet at County Hall on Thursday 3rd September at 17:00.
Well the road leading from forest Road to gunville had a line of cars all parked on double yellow lines and nobody does anything about it.
They were causing traffic to build up along the road and had to pass several parked cars between oncoming traffic.
What is the point.
The SO called authorities are useless.
Move over migrants to the island and employ them to book
vehicles who park ILLEGALLY, obviously the Councils
Civil Enforcement Officers cannot cope or need to go to
Specsavers.
People should NOT get a say as to whether they want
Double Yellow Lines or not.
Road safety is imperative and the SO called authorities
should know whether a location needs them or not.
I have seen many locations that NEED Double Yellow Lines
placing
Eg Top of East Hill Road Ryde to name one, there are many more
locations
BUT TOO BE HONEST IT IS OK PLACING DOUBLE YELLOW LINES
BUT MAKE SURE LAWLESS UNEDUCATED B’STARDS DON’T PARK
ON THEM.
I can drive round many Roads this evening and you will see
Lawless B’stards parked on them because they know there are
not enough Civil Enforcement Officers on the island.
ANY VEHICLE PARKING ON DOUBLE YELLOW LINES ILLEGALLY

The one place there should be double yellow lines is from the Waverley corner to Dave Deaths – so as to allow all traffic, especially buses to turn safely into priory Road.

MAYBE IW COUNCIL / ISLAND ROADS HAVE RUN OUT OF
YELLOW PAINT!
But the most important thing is policing Double Yellow Lines.
