Wightlink has announced that its Fastcat service to and from the Isle of Wight won’t run at all today (Sunday), as repairs are taking longer than expected.
The cross-Solent operator had to suspend its passenger service between Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head yesterday (Saturday) due to a mechanical failure with one of the Wight Ryder vessels.
The other Wight Ryder was already out of service.
It was initially hoped that the service could resume at lunchtime today, but that estimated resumption of service time was then adjusted to 16:15.
Now, Wightlink has confirmed that its Fastcat operation won’t resume at all today.
Engineering teams are working hard to complete the necessary repairs and safely return the vessel to service as soon as possible.
All Wightlink tickets and passes will continue to be accepted on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service.
Hovertravel will be running extra flights every 15 minutes throughout the day and they are happy to accept Wightlink Tickets.
In a statement, Wightlink has said:
“We sincerely apologise for the disruption to your travel plans and thank you for your patience and understanding”.
