Police are yet to provide details of a late night crash which resulted in several vehicles being damaged in Sandown overnight.
It was not long before midnight last night (Saturday) that emergency services were called to The Broadway, between Foxes Close and Avenue Road.
At the scene, a Peugeot 3008 had collided with a wall, having mounted the pavement. The Peugeot was parked at the time of the incident and was shunted with such force that it mounted the pavement and smashed into the wall, leaving the rear of the vehicle protruding into the road.
The vehicle, which belongs to a resident of The Broadway, is understood to have been written off as a result of the extensive damage caused.
A Nissan Pulsar also sustained significant damage. It too belongs to a resident of The Broadway.
A damaged black Audi was still present a short distance away at 07:30 this morning – with a person fast asleep in the passenger seat.
Police spent several hours on scene, into the early hours of this morning, with recovery of some of the vehicles involved arranged.
It’s said that 1 male was placed into cuffs by attending officers. However, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has yet to provide details about the crash. The full circumstances and details of any arrests remain unknown.
Island Echo has been told that 4 people believed to have been travelling in an Audi were seen sitting on a nearby wall following the crash.
UPDATE TUESDAY – 10 men have been arrested following the crash, as Police launch a drugs supply investigation.
