UPDATED: Adverse weather conditions on the Solent have led to the suspension of Hovertravel’s Ryde to Southsea service this morning (Saturday).
The 07:45 from Ryde operated as normal but the crossing was fairly rough, according to passengers onboard.
Hovertravel have taken the decision to halt all services until further notice with an update due at 09:00.
No other cross-Solent operators are experiencing disruption this morning.
It was announced yesterday (Friday) that Solent Flyer will be returning to Ryde in the coming days, resuming a 2-craft operation. However, the timetable will remain at 30 minutes during peak times and hourly at all other times.
Solent Flyer has been undergoing major modification work in Southampton since September – but it remains to be seen if this will improve the mechanical reliability of the craft and the ability to run the craft in adverse conditions.
UPDATE @ 11:15 – Hovertravel have now resumed a timetabled service.
