Des Jarvis of DW Jarvis Family Butchers has pledged to donate £1 from every Christmas hamper sold this year to Macmillan Cancer Support, amid his own battle with cancer.
For over 20 years, Des has been at the heart of the Ryde community, running his traditional butcher shop in the Upper High Street. Known for its entirely gluten-free produce, the shop has built a loyal customer base, and Des has always gone the extra mile to offer more than just high-quality meats.
From affordable winter hampers designed to provide warmth during colder months, to generous discounts for frontline workers during the pandemic – Des has continuously supported the community he loves.
Now, Des is facing a battle of his own. 4 months into his treatment for Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Des remains positive and determined. His oncology team is confident in his recovery, and Des is already looking forward to giving back to those who have cared for him during this challenging time.
As a show of thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support, Des has pledged to donate £1 from every sale of his popular Christmas hampers to the charity that has helped him through his cancer journey. He hopes his loyal customers will continue to support him by ordering their hampers from DW Jarvis Family Butchers once again this year.
Despite his diagnosis, Des remains as committed as ever to serving the community. His shop continues to thrive, and with the help of his dedicated team, he works tirelessly to keep the doors open.
