A crash on a busy rural roundabout is causing delays this evening (Saturday).
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at Whiteley Bank at around 17:45, following reports of a multi-vehicle collision.
At the scene, a car approaching from Canteen Road and another from Shanklin Road have collided.
The roundabout is partially blocked as a result of the collision, which has involved a Vauxhall Vectra and BMW 1-series.
Those involved are being checked over by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Traffic approaching the roundabout is passing through the crash scene under Police direction.
Southern Vectis Route 2 and 3 buses were diverted for a short while but they have since returned to route.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.

Another one. Incompetency prevails a lot on this island
Because many motorists don’t know what to do when they
approach roundabouts on the island.
WHY NOT INSTALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS INSTEAD WITH
CAMERAS ON.
Safer for everyone.
If I had a pound everytime a motorist didn’t give way to the
right
I WOULD BE A MILLIONAIRE
Traffic lights STOP traffic…
Especially with cameras fitted, anyone
not stopping receive points on their licence
and heavy fines.
It seems that drivers never look to the right when coming from Shanklin. I guess that I have a near miss once a month, and always go slow when crossing from Canteen road. I don’t know why it happens there, but it keeps happening, yet when I come down from Shanklin it is never a problem.
There are too many selfish numpties on
the roads who don’t respect other motorists.
It wasnt a motorist?
What was it then a bird.
More bad driving on the Iow
More utter shit driving.but at least they are off the road for a while..
We had 218 vehicle accidents across the island in 2024. Rough percentage per capita of 0.16%
UK as a whole has roughly 900 a DAY. That 328,500 a year.
As a percentage that’s 0.47%
So just for you EiE, we are three times less like to have bad driving here that the rest of the mainland. Do shut up. If I had a pound for every time you squawked….
probably best not to confuse him (or her) with actual facts…
EiE seems to have enough of a problem understanding reality as it is…
I know what I see on a daily basis and it is
SHOCKING
Many roads are safer on the mainland because they
have Speed cameras installed.
Speed cameras so not exist on the island.
I would like to see more Police camera vans around
the island.
It works 100% because when motorists see them
they slow down
Rubbish, due to the small size of the island
motorists are more at risk.
Keep dreaming
Bless you, you need to get out more and see for
yourself.
I’m a professional driver….
And them’s are the actual facts.
Extrapolating from those actual facts, the size of the island together with the number of vehicles, especially taking into consideration the swell of tourist numbers in summer months makes the lower number of accidents even more remarkable, ergo, better drivers taking FEWER risks.
