A vintage and retro clothes and furniture shop in Ryde is to close after being told their landlord needs to sell.
Located on Lind Street in the town centre, Rogues of Ryde has been operating for some 3 years but has been forced to close down due to reasons beyond their control.
It is understood that the landlord of the building is looking to sell therefore forcing the current occupier Kevin to vacate the premises, as soon as possible.
A closing down sale is currently taking place with reductions of between 30% – 70% on all stock. The sale started on Friday.
Rogues were popular not only in Ryde but all across the Isle of Wight.
Business owner Kevin has said:
“We will find something and I’ve always believed that things like this are a blessing in disguise and will help it move to the next level
“Anyway come and grab yourself a bargain. Make an offer and if it doesn’t get bettered, it’s yours.”

No date has been given for an official closure date. Rogues are hoping to find another premises so they can keep trading.
Well that’s odd. Given the number of empty units, you might think a landlord would sell on with a sitting tenant.
Most retail is rental. Perhaps someone is buying and wanting to run their own retail from this place, but doing so when the economy is so slow would be a bit of a risk.
I suspect the land lord said….you can stay but the rent will increase considerably…a tactic designed to get tenants to leave, as vacant possession often commands a higher price
