Robin Hill Country Park has finally been sold, passing into the hands of new owners this week. The major attraction went on the open market with Savills in November last year with an asking price of £2.25million. It came just a month after Vectis Ventures announced that Robin Hill was closing for good following a prolonged period of financial turbulence. Now, new life is to be injected into the 88-acre site by its new owners, who exchanged contracts on Monday and completed the deal today (Wednesday). It’s understood the firm behind the purchase is Robin Hill Partnership Limited, headed up by Lee Priddle of AMP Hire Isle of Wight. Many different rumours have circulated as to what the future for the site may be, but at current no confirmations have been made with things still in the early stages.
Events will remain a key part of Robin Hill’s offering with the first to be held in September – Warrior Festival. The site holds planning consent for holiday accommodation including 19 tree houses, 23 lodges and 40 glamping tents, but it is unknown at this time if the site will be developed in this way. Although Robin Hill was sold as a going concern, a number of attractions have already been removed from the park including the Colosuss swing boat and the Cow Express train ride. The park was originally opened in 1971 before being bought by Vectis Ventures in the early 1990s. Speaking on the sale, Vectis Ventures have said:
“Vectis Ventures can confirm the completion of the sale of Robin Hill to Mr Lee Priddle. We wish him every success with his future endeavours at the site.”
