Equipment worth thousands of pounds has been stolen from storage containers at a farm in Winford in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
An appeal has been launched on Facebook on behalf of Winford Farm detailing the extensive amount of equipment that has been taken by suspected thieves.
It’s believed that the thefts occurred between 03:00 and 04:00.
The list of just some of the items taken is as follows:
- Honda CRF 11 Pit Bike
- Honda suitcase generator
- Auger attachment for a digger
- 4 Paslode guns
- Bosch SDS
- 9ft Shimano and Free Spirit Fishing Rods
- Terex Wacker Plate
- Wacker Neuson Petrol Disc Cutter
- 50 inch TV
- 40 inch TV
It’s thought that more items have also been taken from the steel storage units located on the farm.
A £5000 reward has been offered for information leading to the return of the equipment.
Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for a comment on the incident.
What the hell is happening on our island. I feel so sad for all these businesses that have been targeted. When is it going to stop . I really hope they catch them and they get put away .
No chance of their being put away. Community Service Order at worst.
Same as it’s always been. If anything crime going down. Just that now you here about it as soon as it happens. Before only way was to buy the paper at the end of the week.
If they catch them, the goods will have been sold to fund some lowlife’s drug habit, and the worst that they can expect is a slap on the wrist sentence from some out of date judge.
This is disgusting, why the hell do these people think that this is acceptable. I hope that they are caught, someone must know whom they are and if they don’t report them they are just as bad.
Anyone buying this equipment is also at risk of prosecution if caught.
It may well be off the Island by now, and I think that there should be spot checks at ferry terminals on all vehicles, that would deter mainland thieves, and drug dealers too.
We need ANPR cameras too, to detect uninsured vehicles, false plates and disqualified drivers. I am fully aware of Human Rights, am am fully in favour, but this is crime prevention.
Write to Olivia Pinkney, Chief Constable of Hampshire & the iow. Make the point about ANPR, spot checks; maybe get up a petition to present to her, as this would carry more clout. I would sign it.
There are already ANPR cameras based around the island.
ANPR Cameras on the island, I don’t think so Ron. CCTV maybe but not ANPR???? Correct me if I’m wrong.
There are three at least my police officer son confirms that.
We fitted one, but won’t say where.
The island has always been 50 years behind the mainland, so by my reckoning it is now 1971. So let’s all do a Sweeney and Rob a bank with a sawn off shot gun and then go down the beach and throw deck chairs at the rockers and mods and then go to the local cafe and fight with the Ted’s and there flick knives before going to the pub for a regular Friday night brawl and then go to the match on Saturday tooled up to do Millwall. And then on Monday we will go strike. Good old days…..?
What a stupid reply !!
There’s always been crime from year dot. But it is now always in the public eye because of the constant and continues news sites like this and the 24 hour news coverage on TV etc. Stupid is what stupid does. Silly boy.
If I knew who the dirty rotten swines were I would say so without the reward ….
Hope they are caught soon and get more than the Proverbial slap on the wrist!!!!!
It is a horrible thing to happen, but surely if you had thousands of pounds worth of equipment you would make sure your security is good. When you have stored it away would you not alarm it and have it connected to your phone?
Yes, you would think so Ron. Like I’ve said, the island is an easy target. Times have/are changing…….sadly and not for the better.
Let’s face it we as an island are paying the uplift on our council tax for the police and we are lucky to get anyone to investigate crime ! So in other words we are paying the incriminate to police mainlanders !
The island now is not how it once was. Is now experiencing crime the mainland has had for many years. The island is an easy target I’m afraid and the thieving scum bags who do this stealing know it.
I know how these hardworking people feel at the moment having my work tools stolen from me a month ago. Sad thing is the police told me they know who the culprit is?! If so, do something about it. What’s this country coming to. Perpetrators got more rights than the working person. Ridiculous!! The police didn’t my view on handling this situation, you could say it’s old fashion.
Politicians have filled the country with the worlds dross, forcing mainlanders to come here to escape bringing overcrowding and crime to the Island.
End the former ease the latter.
My house was burgled a few years ago, the police weren’t exactly that interested, afterwards I found a hammer they’d left behind which they’d stuidly left on my tool rack, I called the police round again and showed them and i’d been careful not to touch the hammer with my own hands and thought they’d take it to get fingerprints on, but no, I can’t even recall the inane excuse I was given as it was years ago, but it was all so distressing, and mainly things of great sentimental value that were taken, nothing of really great monetary value to thieves, they even broke glass chimney from oil lamp left on floor but took lamp anyway.
You were lucky that they even called round. When vandals caused thousands of pounds of damage to our family cars, they did absolutely nothing, did’nt even bother coming round.
A Police force which is disinterested in crime, so what hope have we..
I have heard of some areas setting up vigilante groups to tackle all the drug crime, one in Grimbsy apparently – not sure how this can be done however..
i’ll bet my bottom dollar it’s a mainland gang operating over here
One expects a minority group, which, as our children age, a majority group to then ruin British lives for the rest of eternity.
This is the good times, it will grow rapidly worse, watch and learn.
