Rescue teams sprung into action when a woman was taken ill onboard a yacht at East Cowes Marina this morning (Bank Holiday Monday).
At just before 08:30, HM Coastguard tasked teams from Bembridge and Ventnor to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with the extrication of a woman from a yacht.
The decision was soon taken to call in the assistance of Cowes RNLI lifeboat, who helped move the woman from the moored yacht to the awaiting ambulance.
The lifeboat travelled the short distance from Cavalier Quay to Red Funnel’s East Cowes terminal, where the ambulance was waiting to convey the patient to St Mary’s Hospital.
The incident was concluded by 09:35.

Ventnor Bembridge and Cowes RNLI to move one woman from a boat that’s already docked, she must have been a big big woman….
LOL, or a member of the local Rotary Club ?
not docked. moored. so anchored out in the river I assume.
Have you ever moved a person out of a yacht cabin, through narrow hatches, while trying to keep them still because of whatever injuries they may have?
Nope, didnt think so.
Have you???..
Didn’t think so….perhaps she should have sailed on a bigger boat…
Somebody down our road required the assistance of Isle of Wight Ambulance earlier. But as the Volunteer services were not needed to assist, there was no Trumpet to blow on this job!!
