Serious weaknesses have been found at Ryde Academy following an Ofsted inspection in April, however the report has only been published this week due to major issues arising from the manner in which the original inspection was carried out leading to a complaint by the Academy.
The Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), on behalf of Ryde Academy, made a formal complaint to Ofsted and as a result, a number of significant changes have been made to Ofsted’s original findings, which still find that the school requires improvement to raise standards, particularly in the behaviour and safety of students.
Since receiving the adjustment report shortly before the half-term break, the Governing Body has made further representations to Ofsted and have requested their continued inquiry into the complaint made by AET in respect of the process and subsequent judgements made.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the school, which has 1088 students, as Ofsted highlight improvements in exam results, attendance and punctuality, teaching, and post 16 provisions.
An evening is being arranged within the next two weeks for parents to visit Ryde Academy to allow the governing body to present the findings of the report and explain the ways in which they will be moving forward.
