UPDATED: Police descended on Shanklin and cordoned off an area of Regent Street late last night (Sunday) following what is understood to be a serious assault.
Emergency services arrived on scene outside the Peacocks store at around 22:00, where it is said paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service swiftly attended to an individual.
The injured party was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by Ambulance.
The injuries sustained were deemed so serious that officers from Hampshire Constabulary established a cordon to preserve evidence at the scene.
UPDATE @ 09:30 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that an 18-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).
It has transpired that 2 men were injured as a result of last night’s incident; 1 has sustained a head injury whilst the other has received treatment for a facial injury.
Thankfully neither injury is thought to be serious.
