With just under one month to go until Christmas Day, Red Funnel has confirmed it will be the only ferry operator crossing the Solent on 25th December.
Red Funnel will once again be offering 2 departures from each side via its vehicle ferry service on the big day.
Sailings will depart Southampton at 09:00 and 12:00 and East Cowes at 10:30 and 13:30.
Fran Collins, CEO at Red Funnel, has said:
“This Christmas, as in previous years, we are pleased to maintain our commitment to keeping the Island connected. We understand the importance of being able to spend time with loved ones on Christmas, so we are proudly continuing our tradition of being the only operator offering Solent crossing services on Christmas Day.”
Customers planning to use Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service over the festive season can also save 1/3 off ferry travel via the company’s Black Friday sale.

I’ve just picked myself off the floor from laughing..just wait they will have technical issues ..or the best one ..staff shortages or the aft engine is broken…
What if the essential member of staff does not
turn up for work, due to eating too many
Mince Pies!
Ho Ho Ho
I should think so too. Wightlink should do the same.
Ha ha if they have a working vessel.
Ha ha, if they have a working vessel.
Expect an unavailable essential crew member.
That is great news.
Nice to know we are not Lockdowned on the Island
on Christmas Day.
Well done Red Funnel
Given the utter rubbish unreliable service from Red Funnel for months now, who in their right mind would consider booking them for Christmas Day. If you want to be guaranteed to be off island for Christmas Day then go the day/night before – assuming they’re running then!!
