Isle of Wight West MP Richard Quigley celebrated local hospitality week after being named a ‘business champion’ by the Labour Party for the hospitality sector.
Richard proudly marked Local Hospitality Week (5th-11th May) by highlighting some of his favourite hospitality venues across his constituency, including Pier View, Smoking Lobster, The Coast, Harvey Browns, The Portland, and The Waterfront at Totland Bay.
In doing so, he showcased the steps this Labour government is taking to support the hospitality sector.
As a small business owner himself, Richard remains committed to using his personal experience to champion local hospitality in Parliament, ensuring that the voices of those working in the sector are heard clearly and effectively The Labour Party is committed to backing the hospitality industry. Secretary Jonathan Reynolds recently affirmed:
“Businesses in our retail, hospitality and leisure sectors are foundational to our economy and our high streets. They are big employers in every community across the UK, offering accessible jobs and opportunities and providing spaces where communities can come together — they are the glue that binds us together as a
society.“Richard has already convened two hospitality roundtables, bringing together hotel and caravan park businesses from the Island and beyond to discuss the government’s growth plan and offer their perspectives on how additional support can be provided to the sector. He is committed to continuing this engagement and will be hosting future roundtables with representatives from other areas of the hospitality industry, looking forward to gathering further insights from a diverse range of voices.”
Reflecting on his appointment as a Business Champion for the Hospitality Sector, Richard Quigley MP said:
