An ongoing investigation by Hampshire Constabulary into the supplying of drugs on the Isle of Wight resulted in 3 arrests and a raid on an address in Newport yesterday evening (Monday).
Multiple police units including dogs units were spotted on Garden Way, Newport, where officers searched a property as part of the ongoing investigation. The raid took place at a block of flats at the end of the cul-de-sac.
Police have confirmed that no arrests were made at the property.
As part of the investigation, however, 3 people have been arrested – including a man in his 20s from Newport who was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Additionally, a man in his 20s from Ryde and a woman in her 20s from Godshill were also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
They remain in custody at this time.
Festival Time Again
Yes get it over here early and get the supply chain set up….. but not this time it seems.
What different does does that make drugs here all the time
Been in a coma?? This happens weekly.
So glad that someone is trying to do something to address this menace. So many of us have been so worried, especially for our young, who are so vulnerable to peer pressure.
If only the judiciary were to view it as seriously and impose stronger sentances.
We have seen such a deteriation over recent years, with drug running going on unchecked, dealers emboldened, have been going round with impunity.
Police, please continue where you have started – the rest of the island awaits hopefully..
shush
Who’s the menace? Is it Dennis? That little rascal…
Good policing keep it up
Police are doing a great job, sadly the courts are imposing pathetically inadequate sentences.
Drug dealing is evil and corrosive to society, a custodial sentence and seizure of ALL ASSETS should be the norm , then they have to prove they are not proceeds of crime.
The balance needs tipping in favour of the honest and responsible members of our community, the dealers need banging up and stripping of all assets !!!
Currently they are laughing at the judicial system.
The war on drugs is clearly not working or ever going to work. Decriminalise drugs, treat users as patients/the sick they are, legalise some drugs and then no need for dealers, no money for organised crime, no attraction in to money laden gangs.
Portugal have a much better system, even the US have taken a different approach
The wider public need educating, drugs come in all shapes and forms from paracetamol to alcohol, some more dangerous than others. It astounds me how many just don’t know the difference between drugs, legal and illegal.
Don’t see how crime would disappear since there’s always demand for ‘a high’ that you can’t get off the shelf. The high would just change in nature.
Won’t stop them drug driving whether its legal or not that’s a major issue here
I don’t know how much it costs to use sniffer dogs? think we should use them more at ferry terminals and wherever. They are amazing at finding all sorts. You could prob walk one round a town and he’ll sniff out all the users.
Poor things could turn into dopeheads themselves if they walked round some of these streets enough, stink of bloody weed everywhere. Vile.
