4 pumping appliances from Newport, Ryde and Freshwater are on scene, alongside a water carrier from Freshwater, having been called to the incident at around 20:30.
UPDATE @ 21:46 – The fire has now been brought under control but the wooden building has been left as a smouldering wreck.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all in attendance at the scene including a Police Inspector.
The Incident Command Unit has also arrived at Porchfield to act as the central hub for the operation.
Porchfield Road has been closed in both directions between Colemans Lane and Whiteoak Lane and is likely to remain closed for the remainder of tonight.
UPDATE @ 22:05 – The British Red Cross Fire and Emergency Service Unit is now on scene – with 2 volunteers – to provide assistance to all involved in tonight’s incident.
UPDATE @ 22:43 – Fire crews are now starting to stand down from the incident after more than 2 hours on scene. However, at least 1 appliance is to remain at the property for the time being to continue damping down the area.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have been called to ensure supplies are isolated and safe.
The area will remain cordoned off overnight ahead of a fire investigation tomorrow morning.
Porchfield Road is expected to re-open shortly.
